SUMMARY

This is supervisory, clerical, and manual work in receiving, storing, and issuing materials, supplies, and equipment.
The employee in this class is responsible for the supervision of a large storeroom stocking supplies, materials, and equipment used in varied Physical Plant construction, maintenance, and service work. Work is performed under general supervision of an administrative superior.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises other employees and participates in the receipt, storage and issuance of supplies, materials, and equipment.

Supervises and participates in taking physical inventories.

Supervises and participates in maintaining records of storekeeping activity.

Checks tools and equipment in and out.

Orders materials and supplies as necessary to maintain proper stock levels; picks up surplus property supplies in Atlanta.

Maintains catalogue files to insure that operating supervisors have access to latest developments in the equipment, material, and supplies field for their activities.

Issues and accounts for supplies to all departments.

Performs related work as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from a standard high school or vocational school and experience in the operations of a large central warehouse, including some supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Considerable knowledge of storekeeping and warehousing methods and procedures, including physical inventory and record keeping practices.

Considerable knowledge of a variety of tools, parts, materials, and supplies, particularly as used in maintenance, construction, and mechanical repair work.

Ability to supervise the work of others.

Ability to make standard arithmetical computations with accuracy.

Ability to keep records and make reports.
