Materials Handler IV Duties
SUMMARY
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers involved in
shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing, delivering
and maintaining records for a variety of materials, equipment
and supplies. This position is distinguished from the other
classifications in that incumbents have full supervisory
authority over other workers and typically spend a majority of
time engaged in supervisory activities, but also participate in
materials handling duties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises the activities of subordinates
Compiles special or routine reports for management regarding
financial or operational matters of assigned area
Oversee, organize and coordinate annual inventory process
Verify prices paid for incoming materials and contact vendor if
discrepancy arises
Ensure adequate safety measures are followed to protect
university property and personnel
Advise subordinates with questions or problems in any aspect of
work activities
Monitor work and examine records for accuracy, neatness and
conformance to policies and procedures
Perform or assist subordinated in performance of duties
Participate in ordering of stock items to replenish levels
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Four years of shipping/receiving/stores experience or Associates
Degree and Business Administration or related field ands two
years of shipping/receiving/stores experience which includes one
year in a supervisory or lead capacity or any equivalent
combination of experience and/or education from which comparable
knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of shipping/receiving and inventory standards and
practices
Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles
Skill in both verbal and written communication
