SUMMARY

This is supervisory work in the maintenance of a space and facilities inventory of university owned buildings and rooms.
An employee allocated to this class of work is responsible for maintaining a computerized perpetual inventory of all physical space and the preparation of periodic inventory reports. Work is performed under general supervision of an administrative superior.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains a computerized perpetual inventory of all physical space according to university guidelines.

Supervises and participates in the measurement of facilities to determine total square footage.

Prepares scale drawings of facilities showing locations, doorways, and electrical outlets.

Maintains and updates master property maps.

Maintains and updates floor plans for university owned or used buildings.

Checks inventory records for completeness and accuracy.

Assists in the re-numbering of rooms.

Maintains a master file of building blueprints.

Coordinates the maintenance of up-to-date space inventory records.

Prepares various administrative reports.

Recommends personnel actions.

Performs related work as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from an accredited high school or vocational school and considerable experience related to this class of work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Considerable knowledge of space utilization practices and physical inventory procedures.

Some knowledge of building construction and drafting.

Ability to read blueprints and other building schematics.

Ability to prepare drawings and sketches to scale.

Ability to supervise the work of others.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and other employees.
