SUMMARY
The Associate Director assists the Director in all aspects of
administration of the Oxford Programs and Center, helping to
determine the academic, financial, and administrative shape of
both.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary duties include marketing and administering of the
UGA at Oxford Residential Center. The person in this position
recruits new programs to help generate revenue for the Center,
and s/he works with other units within the University to help
launch these new programs by developing promotional materials
and establishing budgets. The Associate Director works to
recruit adults for continuing education programs, such as the
Decorative Arts study-trips. The person in this position may
recruit Oxford faculty for lectures and workshops both at the
Center and at UGA, developing the schedule and budget as well as
designing promotional and registration materials. The person in
this position is responsible for new and established program
development and maintenance, including budget development,
schedule arrangement, and curricular development. The person in
this position must interface with UGA's financial and
administrative systems as well as with the potentially
unfamiliar academic and administrative systems at Oxford.
The Associate Director shares the responsibility for directing
program orientations with the Director, and s/he shares the
responsibility for directing the Franklin at Oxford, Grady at
Oxford, and Terry at Oxford summer programs. Responsibilities
during the summer include traveling to Oxford for the program
duration, coordinating with Oxford administrators and faculty,
and occasionally, teaching for one of the summer programs.
The Associate Director directs publication of the Oxford Bulldog
newsletter and recruits members of the Friends of Oxford. The
person in this position will also organize and recruit sponsors
for special events, and the Associate Director endeavors to
maintain relationships with current and potential donors.
The Associate Director will act for the Director in the
Director's absence, and may travel for or with the Director.
When acting for the Director, the Associate Director may be
required to make decisions independently in the event of a
crisis, although the position should act in consultation with
the Director if possible.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A master's degree in one of the humanities is required; Ph.D.
preferred.
Applicant should have University-level teaching experience,
preferably at UGA.
Person in this position should remain engaged in academic
research and life.
Prior travel outside the United States is required, and travel
to the United Kingdom is strongly desired.
Person in this position should be familiar with University
budgeting and accounting systems and have a keen business
acumen. |
