Parking Services Attendant Duties
SUMMARY
This is regular or special detail work controlling the use of
parking lots and structures on the university campus.
Work involves operating a parking lot or structure service
booth, collecting parking fees from faculty, staff, students,
and guests of the university for parking their cars in spaces
provided. Duties include monitoring assigned parking areas,
enforcing parking regulations, and writing parking violation
notices (tickets). Employee must be dedicated to public service
often made difficult by emotional stress in issuing parking
violation notices. Assignments are received from the manager or
supervisor of Parking Services and are carried out under
established policies and procedures. Work is reviewed through
conferences, inspections, and observations of results obtained.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Meets the public and gives information about use of parking lots
and structures including rules, regulations, and related
information.
Provides information to visitors concerning the campus.
Issues parking permits, validates parking tickets, writes and
issues parking violation notices.
Receives cash or checks, operates cash register, and balances
cash on hand against receipts; may prepare deposits; reconciles
cash statements.
Monitors parking lots and structures.
Maintains general appearance of service booth.
Maintains and/or repairs parking lots and structures.
Monitors ticket spitter an operates gate controls; operates
portable two way radio.
Performs other related duties incidental to the work described
herein.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a standard high school, supplemented by
experience in meeting and serving the public
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Experience in the use of cash register, adding machine,
calculator, etc.
Some knowledge of handling cash and maintaining records.
Ability to make accurate and arithmetical calculations.
Ability to meet and serve the public tactfully and effectively.
