Painting Assistant Supervisor Duties and Responsibilities
Purpose of Classification:
Supervises the paint functions by scheduling, assigning, and
inspecting the work of assigned staff.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This is
third in a series of four classifications and is a first line
supervisory classification. This classification typically reports to
the Painting Supervisor.
Examples of Duties:
- Supervises and schedules the work activities of
subordinates.
- Assigns and inspects the work of Painters and Trades Helpers
and initiates corrective measures to meet established standards.
- Plans and develops work schedules, equipment usage
schedules, priority of painting expenditures, and procedures for
equipment maintenance.
- Estimates material and labor.
- Selects and requisitions materials.
- Maintains time, payroll, and material records, and submits
reports.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to
the painting trade.
- Skill in the preparation and application of paints to
different types of surfaces.
- Skill in estimating time and material requirements of work
projects assigned.
- Skill in leading the work of others.
Minimum Qualifications:
Seven
years of progressively responsible painting experience, which
includes one year of lead experience; OR, Completion of a three year
federally approved technical training program in painting AND four
years of progressively responsible painting experience, which
includes one year of lead experience; OR, Any equivalent combination
of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge,
skills and abilities have been achieved.
