Senior Event Coordinator Duties
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and
coordinating onsite management of highly complex meetings and
conferences. Considerable travel, evenings, and weekends may be
involved. A person in this position may supervise Event Planners
and Associate Event Planners and may develop new educational
events.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Visit and select appropriate conference venues;
Negotiate contracts;
Schedule facilities and services;
Serve as liaison between the clients and facilities;
Recognize, analyze, and solve problems and issues;
Coordinate event logistics including hotel accommodations, food
and beverage service, meeting room setup, etc.;
Develop/manage budgets;
Handle event billing, payment of invoices, and financial
closure;
May work with content specialists to develop new educational
events;
May supervise and guide team of Event Planners and Associate
Event Planners;
Works under limited supervision.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of a Four year college degree plus 5-7 years
experience in planning, coordinating, and managing meetings and
conferences.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of event planning;
Considerable knowledge of site selection and contract
negotiation;
Excellent budgeting/financial skills;
Excellent database management and software skills;
Demonstrated ability to make appropriate financial and customer
service decisions;
Ability to develop new educational events. |
