Technical Director Duties
SUMMARY
This is a technical and administrative work engaged in the
operation and supervision of events and stage facilities.
An employee allocated to this class of work is responsible for
the overall planning logistics, acquisition of technical
equipment, the scheduling and coordination of equipment and
production personnel, and the technical support and production
of educational, cultural, and entertainment programs conducted
in campus facilities.
Activities and decisions are varied in nature, requiring the
solving of both common and unusual problems. This position's
supervisor of other appropriate position is consulted for
clarification of policies only when needed. Review is by an
administrative supervisor and by results obtained.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for overall planning, logistics, and supervision for
all events including purchasing materials, equipment, etc.
Implements production requirements for all users of facilities
including scheduling, planning, and running rehearsals and
concerts.
Determines appropriate charges for necessary equipment and
personnel.
Maintains equipment and machinery, purchases/rents supplies, and
equipment.
Monitors financial resources.
Issues bills and contracts for rental uses of facilities.
Insures stage areas and other related facilities are safe and
meet inspection regulations.
Supervises student workers, staff and local union stagehands
during production of programs and events.
Sets-up and operates lighting and sound equipment/systems.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of a Bachelor's degree in related area, or Technical
Diploma, or Associates Degree in related area and three (3)
years related experience.
GA Driver's License, required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to communicate effectively and lead and manage the work
of others.
Considerable knowledge of University facilities and their
respective attributes.
Ability to maintain and operate stage equipment as necessary. |
