Media Utilization Specialist Duties
SUMMARY
This is skilled technical and supervisory work in the
maintenance, distribution, and utilization of communications
media.
Work involves responsibility for acquiring, maintaining, and
distributing various communications media. An employee allocated
to this class supervises and advises on a wide range of film,
audio visual, and other media equipment systems. Work is
performed with considerable independence under the general
direction of an administrative superior.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises and administers the operations of a film library to
include securing and previewing films, maintaining film
inventory and records, and indexing and publishing film
catalogues.
Consults with medica users and advises users on possibilities
and applications of various communications media.
Promotes and distributes communications media output.
Provides media users with audiovisual equipment and supervises
the inventory, maintenance, and setting-up of all equipment.
Recommends and implements necessary improvements and
modifications in media systems and recommends purchase of
audiovisual equipment.
Maintains appropriate records and prepares various reports.
Performs related work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited college or university with
supervisory experience in communications; or any equivalent
combination of training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of the practices, methods, equipment,
materials, and tools used in testing and operating
communications media.
Some knowledge of the principles and methods of maintaining a
library and record keeping system.
Some knowledge of the electrical, mechanical, and optical
principles as they apply to the operation and repair of
communications media equipment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with media users and university officials.
Ability to supervise the work of others. |
