SUMMARY

A person allocated to this class of work performs mid-level monitoring, controlling and analyzing work in the operations of a computer console and related peripheral equipment. Work includes analyzing potential problems and taking corrective action, reviewing priorities in order to ensure production schedules are met, and maintaining systems scheduler logs and records regarding output units and supply inventories.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manual tape mounts.

Printer operation and printed output distribution.

Console monitoring.

Reconciles minor/moderate problems.

Refers complex problems to higher authority.

Routine "housekeeping" duties (3rd shift).

Mounts open systems backup tapes.

Answer telephones.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent and combination of two (2) years experience and technical training in operating related computer equipment.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Considerable knowledge and experience in the operation of large-scale electronic computers and their auxiliary equipment.
