Regulatory Env Compliance Manager Duties
SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to maintain the university's
compliance and assist other departments in complying with
environmental laws and regulations. Supervises the daily
activities of the laboratory safety department and computer
support functions. Supervises regular employees, has full/final
responsibility for ensuring compliance with safety/health
regulations, scheduling/assigning work, completing formal
performance evaluations; participating in discussion/decision in
job actions, setting production goals, or job expectations,
assessing performance, determining salary and salary changes,
coaching/counseling, and directing/coordinating. Responsible for
managing special projects involving developing schedules and
plans for implementation and coordination of resources. Provides
input into the proper expenditure of resources. Activities and
decisions are varied in nature, requiring the solving of both
common and unusual problems. This position's supervisor or other
appropriate position is consulted for clarification of policies
only where needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains the university compliance with the Title V, Air Permit
by completing quarterly, semi annual and annual EPA reports;
Assists with EPA inspections for emission units.
Performs environmental evaluations of the university large-
scale projects.
Supervises daily activities of laboratory safety, and special
projects personnel ensuring compliance with safety/health
regulations, scheduling/assigning work, and completing formal
performance evaluations.
Assists departments in maintaining positive relationships and
compliance with various state and federal guidelines and
regulations.
Participates on the Hazardous Materials Team in responding to
releases for the purpose of assessment, stabilization, and
remediation.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a Bachelor's degree and 3 years experience.
Driver's License Required

Requires expertise in biological, chemical, and radiation
response
Requires expertise in the use of hazardous materials technical
equipment
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals,
and/or legislative/technical documents
Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from faculty,
students, staff, regulatory agencies, or members of the
community
Ability to occasionally work around fumes or airborne particles;
toxic or caustic chemicals and in outdoor weather conditions
Ability to write complex reports in a prescribed format
Ability to effectively present information to top management and
groups Ability to develop ideas that will result in the creation
of new methods, services, programs, and/or processes
