SUMMARY

This position has responsibility for providing complex projects which use visual solutions for the communications needs of clients. It includes using a wide range of deliverables as defined by clients from concept through completion. This position may perform supervisory duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Inspects all University structures with emphasis on life safety considerations regarding fire code compliance as designated in relevant state and national codes and standards.

Provides University departments with general recommendations and guidance for improving fire safety standards.

Serves in a liaison capacity to assist in coordinating the University's response to deficiencies
noted in inspection reports prepared by the local and state fire marshals.

Assists the local and state fire inspectors during on site visits by arranging schedules and
consultations with departmental representatives, and by resolving non-structural code violations
as necessary.

Inspects University equipment related to fire alarm and sprinkler systems.

Assists Safety Officer with fire safety training activities.

Prepares fire safety reports as required.

Reviews plans, shop drawings, and engineering submits of all types regarding construction and
renovations at the University with regard to fire safety considerations.

Travels to outlying University facilities for fire inspections and to carry out other fire prevention activities as may by required or requested.

Maintains comprehensive building file system.

Assists with hazardous materials emergencies and other related fire safety duties.

Performs related work as required.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Technical Diploma, Associate's Degree or two years college course work and a minimum of one year experience or graduation from accredited university/college with one year related experience.

License and Certification required: Driver's license required, and ability to successfully complete a recognized safety inspection certification program.
