Alumni Development Specialist Duties
SUMMARY
This is professional alumni development work in the solicitation
and promotion of information to a variety of publics.
An employee allocated to this class of work is responsible for
conducting alumni meetings, parents meetings, organized
association meetings, and some general phases of the
solicitation program. Assignments are received in written and
oral forma nd are implemented with a considerable degree of
independence.
Work is performed under general direction of an administrative
superior and is reviewed through observation of results.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans and coordinates all phases of alumni chapter meetings both
on and off campus for a particular school or college.
Meets with individuals and small groups to prepare promotional
materials for alumni or development meetings.
Makes arrangements for public utilization of university
facilities.
Conducts studies and prepares information.
May supervise a limited number of clerical personnel in the
completion of alumni or developmental projects.
Performs related work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited college or university with major
course work in an appropriate curriculum and experience in
public relations, alumni relations or a related field of work;
or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of public
relations work.
Considerable knowledge of alumni development programs and
techniques.
Some knowledge of the techniques of printing and publishing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with alumni groups and university staff.
Ability to effectively communicate ideas and programs before
groups and in writing.
