Budget Assistant Duties
SUMMARY
An employee in this position typically performs a high volume of
repetitive transactions and daily system maintenance. Fiscal
work assisting professionals in review of budget requests,
processing of amendments, and budget development.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May coordinate work of subordinates or act as lead.
Conducts review of past, present, and proposed budget items to
assure accuracy.
Spot checks tabulations to verify budget columns are listed
under proper departments and categories.
Reviews budget amendments to determine whether proper signatures
and letters of justification are included.
Consolidates amendments into correct format for presentation.
Prepares monthly progress reports for delivery to departments
following approval of amendments.
Assists in contacting departments in case of questionable
adjustments, reviewing restricted accounts changes and changing
allotments as necessary.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a standard high school (GED) and one (1) to two
(2) years college/technical school coursework in bookkeeping or
accounting OR at least two (2) years progressively responsible
related experiences.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices,
statistical analytical procedures and general University
programs, practices, and procedures.
Ability to perform mathematical tasks rapidly and accurately.
Ability to think logically in analyzing and solving problems. |
