Budget Analyst Duties
SUMMARY
This is the second in a series of four exempt positions within
the University's Budget Office. The person occupying this
position must be able to analyze and process personnel reports
and budget amendment documents submitted by University
departments and units, ensuring compliance with University of
Goergia policies and procedures. Work also involves
communicating with department and unit budge representatives to
resolve budget problems detected on personnel reports, budget
amendments, and check hold lists.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain listing of all Univeristy budget positions to ensure
proper assignment of employees to budget positions.
Review and process PARs (Personnal Activity Reports).
Review and work with departments/units on overdraft reports and
prepare journal vouchers to correct position data errors.
Resolve problems with monthly, academic, and salaried payroll
check hold lists, generally involving extensive contact with
department/unit budget representatives.
Distribute monthly reports of budget positions and accounts to
each budgetary unit.
Assist with budget development as needed.
Assist with University of Georgia Campaign for Charities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business
Administration, or a related discipline with three (3) to five
(5) years of progressively responsible relevant budget analysis
experience; or any equivalent combination of education,
training, and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of accounting principles and practices as
well as statistical and analytical procedures.
Working knowledge of University practices and procedures.
Ability to make arithmetic calculations rapidly and accurately,
along with skill in using calculators and other such machines.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships and think
logically.
