4-H Environmental Educator Duties
SUMMARY
This is highly responsible work in marketing and promotion of
the statewide 4-H Environmental
Education Program. This person will be responsible for direct
marketing of the 4-H Environmental Education program to schools
and youth groups in Georgia and the southeast.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Set up and conduct face-to-face contacts with school teachers,
principals and curriculum coordinators to promote and market the
statewide 4-H Environmental Education Program.
Develop high quality brochures and printed literature and other
media including videos for the purpose of marketing the 4-H
Environmental Education Program.
Work with 4-H Faculty responsible for Environmental Education to
identify target audiences and tailor marketing for these groups.
Exhibit the 4-H Environmental Education Program display at
education conferences throughout Georgia and the southeast.
Work with the State 4-H Specialist -Environmental Education,
District Directors, Program Development Coordinators and 4-H
Agents to market the 4-H Environmental Education Programs in the
Cooperative Extension Service Network.
Conduct, organize and execute a multi-faceted promotion and
marketing effort for the program which also includes mass
mailing of brochures and literature, videos and other media
productions which promote the program.
Utilize worldwide web and other technologies to promote and
market all components of the 4-H Environmental Education
Program.
Work with on-site environmental education coordinators and 4-H
facility managers to market their sites to all target audiences.
Create advertising materials and administer all advertising
efforts of the 4-H Center and the Environmental Education
Program.
Serve as Project Director for existing federal grants.
Write and secure grants which enhance the Environmental
Education Program and manage fiscal matters related to
Environmental Education grants.
Coordinate and administer teacher workshops, observation days,
and special promotional events for the
4-H Center and the Environmental Education Program
Assist with instructional staff training and training of county
extension agents on the Environmental Education Program.
Teach students in the Environmental Education Program as needed.
Work with teachers and school administration and educational
leaders to integrate the 4-H
Environmental Education Program with the state curriculum
standards.
Carry out other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation with a bachelor level degree in education, marketing,
environmental education or related field. Must have a valid
driver's license Qualified candidate must have PowerPoint
computer presentation skills. This job requires some weekend and
evening work and a great deal of travel.

Strong understanding of Environmental Education and non-formal
education sector.
Strong understanding of the public school system, public school
curriculum, state and national education standards and other
school issues.
Strong people skills and ability to work with a wide variety of
audiences.
Excellent verbal skills and ability to convey a message.
Ability to work with a wide variety of media.
Excellent writing skills.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to work with others on team.
Understanding of Cooperative Extension Service System.
