Executive Resume
Executive Resume Tips As a person applying to an executive
position, you may have many years of experience in the
marketplace and have crafted your resume more than once.
Nevertheless, it is still helpful for you to watch on the
following tips:
- Always include a professional email. Do not pick a
unique email address (e.g. hotcat@yahoo.com) because it is
not professional. Rather, if your name is Andrew Snow, try
to register andrew.snow@yahoo.com.
- Focus on the relevancy. You may have dozens of job
titles and a long list of achievements during the past
years. You definitely can not include all of them. In this
case, choose what are most relevant. The Human Resources
staff will try to find the points they advertise on the job
description to see whether you have such characters. Also,
they want to make sure that you are able to pay attention to
detail as an executive.
- Do not create a general resume for all companies. You
need to tailor it to each one according to the specific
requirements of each potential employer.
- Choose a format that fits you best. Do not use unique
fonts. You are not a candidate applying to some artist
position. Make sure that when your resume is printed, it
looks great too.
- A cover letter is often helpful to state your career
goals and relate your past experience to the position you
are seeking. Therefore, a good cover letter can make you as
a "live" person before the HR staff.
