Surplus Property Coordinator Duties
SUMMARY
This is responsible administrative work in managing the surplus
property warehouse and operations of the university.
Work involves supervising and participating in warehouse duties
including receiving, checking, storing, transferring, issuing
and disposing of a variety of materials, supplies, and
equipment. Work includes maintaining necessary records and
inventories and initiating collection and disposal of university
property. An employee allocated to this class exercises
independent judgement within the limits of established policies
and rules. Work is reviewed through periodic audits and
inventories and through observations of services rendered.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises and participates in the work of receiving, storing,
reissuing, and accounting for a variety of university materials,
supplies, and equipment.
Maintains a record and filing system; conducts periodic
inventories; prepares reports.
Contacts departments and various agencies regarding shipping,
pick-up, and availability of materials, supplies, and equipment.
Requests permission to destroy unrepairable supplies and
equipment and coordinates transfer of all supplies and
equipment.
Coordinates the sale of large surplus items such as trucks or
farm equipment by requesting bids for sale and by collecting
funds and effecting delivery.
Coordinates the disposal of buildings and sale of buildings by
public auction.
Meets with customers; shows available supplies and equipment;
handles all inquiries.
Performs related work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a standard high school; or any equivalent
combination of training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of the nomenclature and types of property and
supplies handled in the surplus warehouse.
Considerable knowledge of laws and policies relating to the
disposal and disposition of university surplus property.
Considerable knowledge of inventory methods and procedures.
Ability to maintain accurate records.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with
university and state agency personnel.
Ability to perform tasks with honesty and integrity. |
