International Student Advisor Duties
SUMMARY
Work division is a 60-40% split between insurance advising and
tasks and immigration advising during peak times and a flip-flop
to 40-60% insurance to immigration commitment during the
non-peak times of the semester
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work as a team to advise students in F visa category and process
necessary requests in SEVIS and I-1440
Develop a clear understanding of the use and maintenance of
I-1440 and SEVIS databases in order to properly report F
students to immigration services
Assist with entering all new student records into I-1440 to
ensure accuracy
Assist with employment workshops, orientation presentations and
other educational initiatives that serve to inform students or
other members of the community about immigration services
Primary advisor for international insurance policy
implementation (60% during peak times-first 5 weeks- of each
semester and 35-40% otherwise)
o Receive and make decisions on insurance waiver requests
(determine waiver deadlines each semester)
o Send assessments and waivers using web application
o Maintain a database of waivers and assessments to assist in
reconciling the insurance bill each semester
o Upload 4-5 rosters to the HTH website each semester based on
enrollment list created by CITP (create the roster schedule for
CITP approximately 2 months before the next semesters rosters
are required to be sent to HTH)
o Reconcile each semesters bill to be paid to HTH and work with
Business Manager to process payment
o Process reports of insurance activity in IMS using QMF (to
assist with reconciliation)
o Serve as the primary contact for questions or problems with
the UGA insurance policy and refer HTH insurance policy
questions to the HTH representative while maintaining a
supportive role with students throughout the process.
Serve as the DSO for Homeland Security and the ARO for the
Department of State.
Helps to supervise Graduate Student Assistant.
Perform any and all other duties as required to carry on the
mission of the OIE Immigration Services.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
BA/BS degree required
1 - 2 years experience working with federal immigration
regulations in a university setting including experience with
SEVIS.
Good computer skills using PC platform and Windows, Microsoft
Office software. I-1440 a plus.
Excellent analytical, communication and writing skills. |
