Senior Grants Officer Duties
SUMMARY
Highly responsible professional work within the Office of
Sponsored Programs involving supervisory responsibility for a
team of Grants Officers and Specialists.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises a team of research administrators and provides
oversight and training;
Directs changes in work assignments of team members on a
day-to-day basis;
Serves as the primary resource for instruction or clarification
for team members having questions about any aspect of proposal
development, contract negotiation or award monitoring;
Occasionally performs duties of Grants Officer.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of a Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred, with
extensive experience as a Grants Officer or equivalent position
in a central research administrative office and some supervisory
experience in the area of grants proposals and/or contract
negotiations; or any equivalent combination of training and
experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Extensive knowledge of the methods, procedures and techniques
used in grant preparation, coordination, and implementation.
Considerable knowledge of institutional policies and procedures
pertaining to external funding.
Ability to participate in the evaluation and analyses of
existing techniques and procedures and to assist in devising new
techniques.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with university personnel, state and federal
agencies and private organizations.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to supervise the work of others.
Ability to prepare and deliver informational lectures on subject
