Director Accounting Duties
SUMMARY
Responsible for UGA's general accounting records & procedures,
property accounting records & procedures, the preparation &
interpretation of all financial records, and the development of
UGA's Facilities & Administrative cost recovery proposal.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for overall operation of Accounting department in
accordance with UGA Admin policies & procedures, includes
preparing financial reports, closing & balancing UGA's fiscal
year, assessing accomplishments, and updating policies &
procedures.
Responsible for personnel issues, including interviewing,
hiring, training, coordinating/assigning tasks, conducting
annual performance evaluations, salary increases, etc.
Responsible for direction & supervision of Property Control
Department Manager, including resolving difficult problems,
establishing & interpreting policies & procedures.
Assist Controller with various problems, analyses,
interpretations, and data acquisition & reporting. Resolves
and/or responds to accounting questions, problems and issues
affecting UGA as an institution.
Resolve and/or respond to numerous UGA departments' problems,
questions, and issues, includes providing guidance to depts.
and/or interpretation of federal, state, Regents, & UGA policies
& procedures.
Perform variety of computer related duties, including PC &
server admin/support, developing & programming queries &
reports. Develop queries to make tasks more efficient.
Coordinate & prepare UGA's Facilities & Administrative (F&A)
Cost recovery rate proposal for submission to federal gov't.
Respond to Fed's questions and review. Participate in Fed.
negotiation of F&A rates.
Coordinate financial IMS/DB2 systems & subsystems development &
enhancements with Administrative Information Systems staff for
accounting and other areas under the Controller
Work with & respond to various internal & external auditors
questions, reviews, problems.
Presenting/instructing classes on Accounting procedures at UGA,
PARs, IMS, & QMF for Windows at Training & Development Center.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business
Administration or related field and six years experience in
governmental or commercial accounting with emphasis on internal
auditing or an equivalent combination of experience, training
and/or education.
