SUMMARY

A person in this position is the Assistant Director of the Carl Vinson Institute of Government as well as the Director of the Office of Administration. Major responsibilities of this position include management and budgeting of approximately $1.5 million of both state and contract/grant funding. Other responsibilities include general personnel managment of the faculty and staff of the Carl Vinson Institute of Government.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees day-to-day operations of CVIOG and accomplishes most administrative tasks except those which require the Director's personal attention.

Reviews, develops, and administers state-supported fiscal year budget and selected restricted and foundation accounts in accordance with policies of UGA.

Administers assignment of restricted, conference, foundation, and income accounts an assists Associate Directors with grant/contract administration. Liason with Associate Directors, project directors, and UGA's fiscal organizations.

Supervises Office of Administration with consists of approximately 10 full-time employees as well as additional student and temporary hourly workers.

Assists Director in personnel management; prepares papers related to recruitment, employment, and promotion; accomplishes administrative matters related to CVIOG faculty, staff, and graduate assistants, including PARs and leave records.

Serves as a central point within the CVIOG to expedite business, indentify and solve problems, and handle campus and non-campus inquiries for information or assistance.

Coordinates budgetary matters with appropriate UGA departments and organizations. Reviews and approves all budget amendments, personnels, and letters of justification. Reconciles all state monthly status reports.

Determines equipment and space requirements and allocates these resources to appropriate faculty and staff.

Supervises preparation of payroll documents. Reviews and approves check/purchase requests, travel expenditure statements and other budgetary or administrative documents which obligate or expend Institute funds.

Member of Institute's mangement team which is composed of the Director and top Institute managers.
