Building Services Worker, Lead Duties
SUMMARY
Supervises a custodial crew in a variety of cleaning and related
duties in an assigned area. Work also involves receiving and
disposing of a variety of complaints and expediting requests for
service. This individual works under general supervision, with
work being reviewed by occasional inspection and observation of
results obtained.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Trains, organizes, schedules, and assigns work routines to a
large group of unskilled workers; inspects buildings, room,
fixtures and equipment for cleanliness and checks results of
work.
Reports needed repairs and replacements.
Determines specifications for and requisitions custodial
materials, small tools, and supplies; maintains records of
equipment and employee time.
Prepares periodic reports of work performance.
May fill in for absent subordinates.
Prepares and submits appropriate reports and memoranda regarding
custodial policies and procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED and 2 years experience in building
operations and maintenance work including some supervisory or
lead work experience or any equivalent combination of training
and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of materials, cleaning equipment, products,
techniques and standards.
Some knowledge of tools, methods, and practices used in building
maintenance and repair work.
Ability to plan, assign, supervise, and inspect the work of a
large group of custodial workers.
Ability to work from instructions and to make immediate changes
in the work program to meet modification of service required.
Ability to meet and work tactfully and effectively with
employees, students, and faculty members. |
