Clrnghse Duties
SUMMARY
Assists with the administration of the UGA oversight responsibility
for compliance with federal and state laws and UGA policies
addressing equal access to employment and enrollment as well as
program, service, and activity opportunities at UGA. Assists in
administering UGA Nondiscrimination and Harassment Policy. Also
oversees operations of USGA ACH.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as Assistant Equal Opportunity Officer for UGA.
Serves as an executive associate to director in administrative
matters; oversees daily operations and represents director and
office in meetings as appropriate.
Assists in evaluating the degree to which UGA's affirmative action
goals and objectives are attained.
Reviews and approves or disapproves requests for regular and
temporary faculty and non-classified appointments.
Reviews and approves or disapproves advertisements for vacant
faculty and administrative positions to assure compliance with
relevant laws and UGA and Board of Regents policies.
Responds to questions from members of the UGA community and others
on a wide variety of issues relating to matters within the purview
of the UGA Equal Opportunity Office ("EOO").
Assists in establishing appropriate institutional goals and
objectives for matters within the purview of the EOO.
Obtains and analyzes statistics relevant to matters within the
purview of the EOO and prepares or directs the preparation and
maintenance of necessary records and reports.
Coordinates and supervises the operation of the EOO and ACH clerical
and professional staff and prepares recommended performance
evaluations of employees within both units for submission to the
director.
Prepares the budget for EOO and ACH for review and approval by
director; monitors and reviews expenditures on a monthly basis.
Performs other job related duties as required or as directed by the
director.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Law Degree and member in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia
or Masters Degree and six years' related experience or equivalent
combination of training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to (i) read, analyze, and interpret statutes and
regulations, professional journals, financial reports, and legal
documents, (ii) respond to inquiries or complaints from faculty,
students, staff, regulatory agencies, or members of the community,
(iii) write complex documents in a prescribed format, (iv) ability
to effectively present information to senior administration and
public groups, (v) ability to communicate complex ideas and beliefs
to top management and (vi) develop ideas that will result in the
creation of new methods, services, programs, processes.
Activities and decisions are highly complex. Significant independent
action and judgment are required subject to University-wide
policies.
Responsible for managing special projects involving developing
schedules and plans for implementation and coordination of
resources.
Responsible for monitoring of financial resources.
